Counseling

Your time at WVU Tech may be filled with transitions, self-exploration and change. Whether you are a full or part-time residential or commuter student, we want to help you complete your education. Our services and programs are designed to support you through these experiences, help you succeed in college and guide you toward a more fulfilling life. We strive to provide these services in an atmosphere that is welcoming, comfortable and multiculturally sensitive for all students, faculty and staff.

Psychological Emergency and After-Hours Help

If you or someone you know is feeling suicidal, contact WVU Tech Counseling Services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at  304.929.1237.

If you or someone else is experiencing a potentially life-threatening situation and are in need of immediate attention, call 911 or WVU Tech Campus Police at 304-929-COPS.

Appointments

If you would like to talk, you can reach us during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.), Monday through Friday at 304-929-1237. If you need assistance after hours, the emergency counseling line will remain available 24/7 at 304-929-1237.

If it is not a mental health emergency, and we are unavailable when you call, you can contact Student Health and Wellness Center at 304-929-1237 during normal business hours, and someone will return your call.  We have also made a Crisis Text Line available for your use. To access this service, simply text WVU to 741741.

If you suspect you may be ill with something contagious (untreated strep throat, flu or virus) and you have symptoms of fever, coughing, sneezing, or nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, please contact Student Health and wellness center  (304-929-1237) for medical assistance.

ULifeline is an anonymous, confidential, online resource center, where college students can be comfortable searching for the information they need and want regarding emotional health.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline   De Prevencion del suicido

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free, confidential suicide prevention hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. By dialing 1-800-273-TALK (8255), the call is routed to the nearest crisis center in our national network of more than 150 crisis centers. The Lifeline’s national network of local crisis centers provide crisis counseling and mental health referrals day and night.

Veterans Crisis Line

The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Veterans and their loved ones can call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online, or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Support for deaf and hard of hearing individuals is available.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. They offer 24/7 support. Call or text them today at 1-866-488-7386The Trevor Support Center, is a place where LGBTQ youth and their allies can find answers to frequently asked questions, and explore resources related to sexual orientation, gender identity and more! Remember, if you need immediate support or help, Trevor’s counselors are just a phone call, chat, or text away. You are not alone!
