Student Eligibility

If a first-time freshman student attended/graduated in spring 2021 from one of the high schools in the participating counties, they are automatically eligible to receive WV GEAR UP assistance at WVU Tech. To see if you're eligible, view our list of participating schools by county.

Program Objectives

  • Successful high school-to-postsecondary transition
  • Increase/ensure first-year fall-to-spring retention
  • Increase/ensure first year in fall-to-fall retention
  • Ensure students academic progression for college success
  • Connect students to campus resources
  • Increase parent engagement
  • Ensure student satisfaction of services resources
