Freshman

Sophomore

  • Introduce yourself to your faculty during office hours. Make sure your faculty know you and you know them. If you have had the faculty member before, it would still be good to connect with them.
  • Get a tutor through the Student Success Center or TRIO Student Support Services
  • After you receive midterm grades, check in with your advisor. While you’re there, make your advising appointment.
  • Meet with your advisor for advising and register for classes.
  • Talk with your advisor about your academic progress. Make sure that you’re meeting your satisfactory academic progress and scholarship requirements.
  • Reach out to your advisor if changes to your schedule are needed.

Junior 

  • Ask your faculty advisor about your 90 hour review to make sure you are on track for graduation.

  • Apply for graduation.
    • Fall – October 15
      Spring – March 15
      Summer – June 15

  • Purchase your commencement regalia (if you plan to walk in commencement) from the bookstore.

Other things to do throughout your time at Tech:

  • Visit Career Services to help create and build your resume, begin searching for jobs, and preparing for interviews
  • Visit WVU Handshake, a service available to help you begin and search for jobs
  • Check-in with your student loan servicers, and complete your student loan exit interviews
